Is ‘congelar’ the correct verb?
Escarchar = Salpicar una superficie de partículas de talco o de otra sustancia brillante que imite la escarcha.
I should have added that the original English sentence was “A cake was frosted.” which was mistranslated into the equivalent of “A cake was frozen”. A frosted cake might taste nice but a frozen cake is far more likely to give you brain-freeze.
