半角 (half-width) is the most standard spelling especially for horizontal texts (横書き). Online media as well as printed books write texts horizontally with half-width characters. However, traditional newspapers and magazines (i.e. printed media outlets using vertical texts) used to blimpishly use 全角 (full-width) for numbers and Latin alphabet characters for even horizontal texts, and many readers in the Internet era have been harshly criticizing for the poor readability. Asahi Newspaper, one of the big five national newspapers, finally decided to change its online articles from full-width to half-width in 2020.

Please note that one of the non-native admins on Tatoeba (where the most of Clozemaster sentences are sourced from) was not aware of the criticism and standard, and he always edit from half-width to full-width. Don’t imitate his disruptive behavior.

Oh dear, I don’t mean to impose or prescribe typographic standards on anyone. I intended this as a reminder for myself (or others, I suppose) since whether these sentences use half- or full- or kanji-form numbers is so inconsistent.
