Just wondering why lavaras is in the imperfect from and not the preterite form. As the verb te pedí is in the prererite form before it.
It’s actually in the past subjunctive form, which is the correct form after pedí que.

Not really what you are asking, but the sentence is missing a “te”, in my opinion:
Te pedí que te lavaras las manos […]
