French translation is wrong
I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong. What bothers you about it?
Should use a future tense (i.e. je vais te tenir ou je te tiendrai)
Ok, so. Initally, when I read the sentences, because of the lack of context, I imagined a situation in which they would be used. For example, someone is a out to leave, but realizes that the other person needs them and says, “Allright, I’ll stay and keep you company”. Although spanish and french share quite a bit of grammar, they don’t use the same tenses in the same way. To me, this is an instance where of that. I can quite easily imagine saying the sentence in the future in spanish and in present in french. So thats why it didn’t sound particularly wrong.
On second thought, though, I’vec hanged my view of it, and, precisely because of the lack of context, I’d have to agree with you, that it is better to stick to a literal translation

Yes I agree that there’s nuance and it feels natural to use the present in French in this case… but without anymore surrounding context, I wouldn’t assume it means the future.
