Why is the subjunctive used here in “estemos”?

The speaker is asking us to imagine a situation, a hypothetical situation, not describe how we’re actually feeling at the moment of speaking. You use the indicative mood to describe reality, and the subjunctive mood when you’re creating new universes in your own mind.

I beg to disagree. In the present, si is used with the indicative. FWIW, this sentence was added to Tatoeba by a non-native speaker.
