Shortcuts for letters with accents

I’m not sure if this is a bug or if I don’t understand how it’s supposed to work, but these are the extra letters for French:

The pop-up explanatory text for all of the ones starting with “a” says the shortcut is Alt-A. All the “e” options say Alt-E, etc.

When I use the shortcut keys, they will only bring up the first option for each letter: à, è, etc.

How do you use a shortcut for the other letters such as é?

Have you tried consecutive Alt-e presses to see if it cycles through options?

That works - thank you. Seems obvious now!

I’m motivated to learn the shortcuts now since I’m finding the explanatory text on the buttons hovers on the screen unless I deliberately move the cursor after touching them.
