My dictionary says it is:
los árboles no dejan ver el bosque (proverb)
you can’t see the forest for the trees (US), you can’t see the wood for the trees (British)

It IS an idiom. Google Translate totally butchered the meaning. LOL “The trees do not let him see the forest.”
When I encounter idioms, I always highlite the whole sentence to see the Google translation. Sometimes GT does ok. And sometimes…lol
