I wonder how this would sound using amplia instead of ancha. 
The word for ‘physically wide’, the W in W×H×L where ‘largo’ would be L, is ‘ancho’, not ‘amplio’. ‘Amplio’ can mean ‘ancho’ in a figurative sense, but the primary sense is ‘roomy’ or ‘large’.
This isn’t a set phrase so it’s not a question of ear, either word sounds fine, but since the sentence is built on the contrast of one dimension against the other, I think ‘ancho’ is better.
