After the update, whenever I’m doing text input on mobile, my keyboard only pops up about 1 in 10 times when I click the continue button to do my next rep.
And also, the hint buttons are completely hidden by the keyboard which when I want an extra letter leads me to first tap to get the keyboard to pop up, then have to tap away my keyboard, to get to the hint button, and then tap back to the input field before I can finally finish the rep.
For me, when I’m sometimes doing along the lines of hundreds of reviews a day, this gets really tedious because over all of these reps, the added taps really add on and it’s just doesn’t feel responsive and nice to work with.
I am on a Samsung A53, running andorid version 14 if that helps.
Same here. Plus now there are bigger gaps in the sounds and the audio stops playing if I move to the next sentence. And offline mode speech speed is unbearably slow.
Same problem here. And I agree with you about moving the hint and submit buttons to the bottom of the screen, where they get completely covered up by the keyboard. It’s not like it even really saves space - now, 2/3 of the middle of the screen is just totally blank.
Wish they’d have an option to use the old layout instead.
Same complaints here. Samsung A52. The amount of screen taps to minimize and then maximize the keyboard just for a hint or translation makes it nearly unusable during text input exercises. The translate/hint/mode/SUBMIT buttons being moved to the bottom is the main issue.
I did submit feedback through the app. So i am following up here for visibility.
Same here. Moreover, the handwriting to text feature almost never works - despite the text field being active with cursor visible and handwriting mode active in keyboard app, moving the pen does no writing but tries to move the cursor, so it’s utterly unusable (and it’s my preferred way of using Clozemaster).
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9FE, Android 15 with Gboard
I can confirm the behavior described by other people.
What helped me is to rollback the app to version 2.10.6. This kept the new interface, but the bugs with the keyboard not popping up and overlaying the buttons are gone. And the bugs with audio too.
My specs are: Samsung A54, Android 15, OneUI 7 and I use GBoard as a keyboard.
Oh god, I’ve got the new button layout now, and it does get blocked by the keyboard. And on top of that, now you can’t see what the % mastered was before answering the question. Can we please stop fucking around with basic functionality in an app I’m paying for?
Well, a true SRS system should allow for infinitely increasing spacing between reviews. But since Clozemaster doesn’t have that option, I try to extend the shelf life by marking the first time I master a cloze as hard, second time as normal, and third as easy. Seeing the score beforehand lets me know whether this is the first time I hit the mastered level or not.
Agreed! We’re working towards SRS improvements, this input is helpful.
How did you know if it was first, second, etc.? It just showed the 4 green check marks before answering I think right, or are you referring to something else?
Well, the first time around would be when it was 3 ticks before answering and 4 afterwards. Agreed that there was no way to distinguish between 2nd and 3rd time though, for that I go by “I feel that I haven’t seen this in a long time”. Looking forward to that SRS upgrade!
Ok thanks, that’s helpful to know! TBD on bringing it back.
To manage expectations, we’re still a ways off. Other SRS feedback is welcome in the meantime though.
We’ve started rolling out the keyboard fix for Android, and assuming all goes well it should be out for everyone within the next few days. 2.11.4 also includes (hopefully) fixes for the audio delay and hints.
Not the OP, but I’ll add that seeing the % mastered before answering is helpful for me. Most importantly, I use it to confirm if it’s a new word I’m learning or if it’s a review. Also there’s a certain thrill in seeing the 75% reviewed status before answering a hard question.
I see no reason why this information was removed, and I hope it gets added back quickly.
Another reason for keeping the % is that I like to not use hints for the last repetition of a word before mastering it, it’s okay if I need some help at the start but for the end I don’t want to need it. And now of course I can’t make that decision.
