French spelling reforms of 1990

I reported what I thought was a spelling error (s’il te plait instead of s’il te plaît) in this sentence and saw the explanation that said this was a post-1990 spelling of s’il te plaît.

I had never heard of this reform before, and I have very mixed feelings about it. I really like how precise and particular the French language is, and this feels like betrayal!

I am also wondering if Clozemaster is using the reformed spelling in many sentences? If yes, it would be good to have the original spelling accepted as an alternative answer. (s’il te plaît was not accepted)

Clozemaster uses the database Tatoeba as source material (at least if you don’t play the new Fast Fluency Track).

Therefore, Clozemaster by default uses whatever the contributors to the Tatoeba project use. Since it’s post 1990, it only logical that most sentences use the post-1990 spelling.

But you can always edit a sentence and add an alternative answer.
