I recall seeing sentences where an adjective like ‘local’ comes after the “possessive adjective” in my own reading. I put the original sentence and the variant “Es el vendedor de fruta local” into DeepL to test, and got the same translation for both. Unlike in another comment, I’m not so sure whether the meaning changes (i.e., a local who sells fruit vs. someone who sells locally sourced fruit), or whether Spanish just has that kind of flexibility about adjective placement.

That definitely makes me think he sells local fruit. How would you say “a global dealer of local fruit”, “un vendedor de fruta local global”? :slight_smile:

If your hunch is right, then I’d expect it would have to be “Un vendedor global de fruta local”. (‘Mundial’ might be better here. But I checked with DeepL, too, and their software agrees.) If I come across the kind of sentences I mentioned in my first post, I’ll need to give them more time for parsing and see what I missed in them.
