I’m wondering about the use of el gerundio (equitetando), which I interpret as “by labeling”. I think “que etiquetan” would be clearer.

Not just clearer, I think the original is incorrect, because to my ear the subject of etiquetando is ‘yo’ and not ‘last etiquetas’. Might be an anglicism.
