You’re basically right, but you can say this to a close friend when he doens’t remember something all of sudden. The important thing here is that you know the difference between se ha vuelto y se puso.
In any case, ‘‘Él se puso senil’’ is not something you might say one day. However Él se ha vuelto senil or Estás senil (jokingly) you might say or hear it one day.
