El plazo de entrega de las propuestas concluía ayer.

English

The deadline for submitting proposals was yesterday.

Why not “concluyó”?

I believe that the nuance is the same as in French:

  • concluía = duration suggested = you had the whole day yesterday to meet the deadline

  • concluyó = hard stop suggested = yesterday is seen as a single point in time

English Translation

The deadline for submitting proposals was yesterday.

So, if it was “ayer a las cinco”, it would have said “concluyó”?

Depends on context:

  • El plazo de entrega de las propuestas concluía ayer a las cinco, pero nadie tenía prisa.
