Bolsa is a general word for a bag or a sack, as in a shopping bag, a plastic bag, a sports bag, a bag of chips, or a bag of sugar. In Spain, a purse is bolso, in Mexico it’s bolsa.
I have only seen mochila. I assume you made a typo.
