Él levantó la mano para parar a un taxi.

Should there be an ‘a’ in ‘parar a un taxi’? It’s not a personal ‘a’ and as far as I can see ‘parar’ doesn’t take the preposition ‘a’ as a rule.

I have no idea what the rule is but you can say both with a and without a. Both seem completely correct to me.
