Cuando terminé de coser, noté que había olvidado pegar las mangas correctamente.

English Translation

When I finished sewing, I noticed I had forgotten to properly attach the sleeves.

The sentence fails to point out the idiomatic meaning of “pegar las mangas” (“kick the bucket”, according to Wiktionary).

I haven’t heard this idiom before, but from what I can get from the definition, it doesn’t make much sense in the context of this sentence, right? (I haven’t experienced it, but I’d wager its a bit difficult to feel anything once you have ‘kicked the bucket’) Since the sentence is speaking about sewing, a literal interpretation seems fine

I should have mentioned that the sentence belongs to the Spanish Idioms collection, so I wasn’t expecting a literal meaning.

Ah, yeah, if that where the sentence was, you are absolutely right, it is a poor example to illustrate the idiom.
