When I got the phone call telling me of my father’s death, I was completely flustered.
I think “estaba aturdido” (imperfect) gives the wrong idea, that I was already in a flustered state when I received the disturbing news. It’s similar to “Cuando recibí la llamada informándome de la muerte de mi padre, estaba borracho.”
