Conozco su nombre.

English Translation

I know his name.

Would this a bit like saying “I’m familiar with his name” since it uses “conozco” and not “sé”?

Maybe, but it does sound a bit off to my “ear.” I’m not certain that it’s incorrect, but it’s definitely the norm to use saber for knowing a name.

And to express that someone’s full name sounds familiar to you (as in when someone asks if you know [or are familiar with] so-&-so but you’re not sure if you do [or are]) the usual phrase is “Me suena.”
