The “alternative answers” field in the “Edit sentence” dialog says that sentences should be added in a comma-separated list. But sentences commonly contain commas, so the separating character should be one that is uncommon in text. Perhaps a plus sign (+)?
Just the answers should go in the “alternative answers” field - not entire sentences for the reason you mentioned. Will try making that label clearer

I see. “Alternative cloze answers” would make the meaning clear to me.
