Hi Clozemaster team,
while using Clozemaster for Icelandic → German, I noticed something that might be a bug related to text-to-speech behavior.
When I tap on a word to open the dictionaries, the word is automatically pronounced via TTS — however, the pronunciation uses an English voice/accent.
After looking into this a bit more, I realized:
- For Icelandic, no audio-related settings are available in Clozemaster (unlike for some other languages).
- iOS itself does not provide an Icelandic voice in Accessibility → Read & Speak → Voices.
- It seems likely that Clozemaster (or iOS) therefore falls back to English TTS, which leads to this behavior.
For dictionary lookup, this automatic fallback pronunciation feels distracting rather than helpful.
Suggestions:
- Either disable automatic TTS playback when opening dictionary entries if no native voice is available
- or provide a setting to turn this behavior off in general
Here is a link to a short screen recording that shows the behavior in context:
Thanks for taking a look, and thanks for all the work you put into Clozemaster — I’m enjoying it a lot.
