Shouldn’t this rather be “Aunque es joven”? We know for a fact that he’s young, so there’s nothing hypothetical about it, and thus no need for the subjunctive.

Either is valid, but sea sounds more natural to me (even if it’s a fact that he is young). Él feels redundant.
Perhaps the English translation should rather be “Though he may be young”, or “Young as he may be”.
