Add a toggle for hiding the sentence skeleton in Transcribe

Currently when doing transcribe CM shows you the skeleton of the sentence in hangman style. You can immediately tell where one word ends and another begins and how many characters each word is. Not only that, once you start typing CM will fill in the hangman skeleton as you go revealing any mistakes you make by only filling in the correct characters.

Please add a settings toggle that makes the hangman sentence hidden while you are transcribing. It goes against everything that makes transcribing supposedly more difficult than single word text input: In single word cloze, once you have encountered a specific card a few times you start to recognise the card itself and can ignore the surrounding sentence because you already know which word the card is about. Switching to transcribing with these cards forces you to pay attention to the full sentence and actually understand it, not just what the idea was but what was truly said and which words and grammar was used. A big part of comprehension is being able to split up the heard sentence into its constituents, the current hangman transcribe takes this away entirely (for most languages).

Additionally: Have transcribe ignore punctuation marks as with any normal dictation. Currently in the sentence in image 3 you have to put in , after Frauen or it won’t go through. This is trivial but annoying with the hangman sentence visible but obviously really annoying with the sentence hidden. This is the reason why I’m asking for the toggle in the first place instead of just writing a short script for hiding the sentence.

I am really digging these new Fast Track decks with images btw. Really enhances the comprehensibility of the new sentences. Now I can do completely new language with listening and text input from day 1 building up the listening comprehension and intuition for the language card by card.

Image 1: The bare hangman skeleton of the sentence as it is now reveals the structure of the sentence.

Image 2: The hangman fills up as you type giving you immediate feedback for each letter. This makes transcribing super easy but also distracting.

Image 3: With the sentence hidden you have to actually transcribe without help (other than the picture which I also plan to hide once it’s time to switch to transcribing).
