How is this different from fliehen?

Great Question! I didn’t know how to describe the difference.
This is what i found on the web: Zwiebelfisch-Abc: fliehen/flüchten - DER SPIEGEL and i agree.
If you’re forced to run away you use “flüchten”. If you run away and it’s your own decision use “fliehen”. The difference is subtle and somtimes it depends on your point of view.
