That’s because it can also mean pub.

There is an old drinking song, where this is used as a joke.
The setting is in a pub.
Part of the lyrics:
Jetzt fragt mich doch so’n Typ ob ich studier,
Ich sag’: Ja, Wirtschaftspolitik, d’rum sitz’ ich hier."
Da sagt er, dass er von der Zeitung wär,
und da wär er der Lokalredakteur.
Wirtschaftspolitik = economy politics but here “pub politics”
Lokalredakteur = local editor but here “pub journalist”
