Hi Hab638. Interesting. I wonder if it is such a definite action, ie he’s quite sure he doesn’t want anyone else to hear that the subj isn’t needed. Oh the joys of the congiuntivo. It will be good to learn more on this one. For what it’s worth, I would have used the subj/congiuntivo.

Yes, “senza che” in Italian is normally followed by the subjunctive mood.
