English Translation
We are human.
‘Human’ should be ‘humans’.
We are human.
‘Human’ should be ‘humans’.
Should it really?
I mean, människor is indeed plural in swedish, but that doesn’t mean it should necessarily be plural in english.
I’m not sure about swedish, but I know there are sentences in spanish that, when translated into english, change their number and this is an example of them; “Somos humanos” → “We are human”, as a general fact. It could be “We are humans”, but (a) it feels a like less natural and (b), it would be speaking about a specific group of people (like “Don’t eat us, we are (a group of) humans”).
I’ve checked the sentence in a couple of translation services, and they seem to favor “we are human”. Couldn’t it be the same for swedish as for spanish?
“Human beings”, maybe?
