The German translation is a correct German sentence. It’s not as true to the original as it could be but still perfectly valid German.

The English sentence uses the future, the German sentence uses the present. If you want to match the tenses, you need to either

  • change the English sentence to “Do you promise not to tell anybody?”
  • or change the German sentence to “Versprichst du, dass du es niemandem erzählen wirst?”
