A person is worth more than money.

Couldn’t this be written without the “di”? If so, does the “di” add anything, or is it purely optional?

Hi. I think *di is necessary here as “vale di più” means “is worth more”. I think it can also mean “means more”.

But doesn’t “vale più” also mean “is worth more”? There are loads of examples of it in Reverso.

Interesting. Contextually I read it as simply “its value is” or “it is of more value than”. Perhaps a madrelingua can spiegare better than I.
