Tu es tôt à la maison, non ?

English Translation

You’re home early, aren’t you?

This sentence might be correctly translated but I wonder if the right nuance is there. Given that the nuance in the English sentence is “you came back home early”, would it be more natural to say “Tu es rentré tôt”?

Yes, I like it better. I wouldn’t use “à la maison” in this situation.

You could also use: “Tu es rentré plus tôt?”

Often, when you ask someone “You’re home early, aren’t you?”, you’re not really asking them if they are early, you know they are. I think, rather, you want want to know why…

Same idea with “Tu es rentré plus tôt?” or “Tu es rentré tôt, non?”
