English Translation
You made someone eat food.
Both phrases are awkward and unlikely. When would anyone ever say this?
Is the one doing the eating necessarily human?

While both are conceptually a bit weird (as you said, unlikely), in my opinion, the english one at least sounds natural. To level the french sentence, I would translate it as, “Tu as fait que quelqu’un mange”, at least, this way it sounds like a sentence that, given the context, would actually be used. Which context would require it… ¯_(ツ)_/¯, but at least it sounds ok.
As an added, I’d translate (french → english) as:
You have caused the sustenance to be consumed
