The kanji for よい (良) would be useful here in parsing this sentence.

Kanji is not necessary and should be avoided as いすぎる is not correct and using 良 may confuse people into thinking it is indeed いすぎる。

Seems like an example where adding a hint for yourself would be useful.

It wouldn’t be confusing at all. The pronunciation would still be よ, and that would still be provided after answering. Besides, it’s usually read as よ when written in kanji anyway.
