分解 can also mean “to disassemble”; would “analyze” be the first meaning that come to mind to a native for such a sentence?
My first instinct would indeed be to disassemble or to take it apart. The object in this case is a bit too physical to interpret it as ‘to analyse’ to me, but I don’t know if it’s necessarily wrong per se. Let me know if anyone disagrees though.
