The English translation isn’t wrong, actually. 座りなよ can be interpreted in several ways:
Kindly offering a seat mostly from a senior to a junior person who hesitates to have a seat. なよ in this case means “Oh, no. Please please please. Don’t hesitate to come closer and have a seat.”
Direct command in an annoyed tone. You can use the phrase in the situation of “Hey! You are blocking my view. I missed the best play of this match because of you. Sit down!!” in a stadium, for example.
