私は彼女が一人で行った方が良いといいました。

English Translation

I suggested that she go alone.

Is 行った (as in 行く[いく]) better in this context, or is either 行う or 行く fine here?

@TisYanni

Both 行った (pron. いった) and 行く (prong いく) are fine. But 行う (pron. おこなう) means “to do/execute”. 行う doesn’t match the English translation.

You might think 行った in a wrong tense, but 行った in this sentence structure doesn’t refer to the past (i.e. “had gone”) but the future (i.e. “would go”).
