Two problems:

  1. {{わかっ}}ている is better replaced with {{分かっ}}ている in Kanji.

  2. 彼は自分のすることは分かっている is most likely to be interpreted as A) he knows what he should do; or B) he knows what he will do in the future (because he is a kind of psychic??). Either way, the Japanese sentence means he is doing nothing yet. It’s not only the matter of tense, but the wrong choice of particle は.

My alternative translations are:

彼は自分のしていることが分かっている。

彼は承知の上でやっている。(かれはしょうちのうえでやっている) – Use this sentence if you want to emphasize the connotation of his “deliberate” action.
