In Italian, the cognate word “critica” is indeed used in this context, but in English I feel it has a more negative connotation.

好意的な批判 sounds unnatural in modern Japanese because 批判 is mostly used in negative context. So, a favorable critical review should be 好意的な批評 (ひひょう) or 好意的な評価 (ひょうか).
