Is 見て using the correct kanji here? I was wondering if 診て would be more appropriate in this case…

Good catch!
診て is the correct Kanji but some native speakers are easily confused with homophones.
診察する (しんさつする) is interchangeable with 診る. Both mean “a doctor examines a patient”.
