～としても知られている is a word-for-word translation, and it sounds a bit unnatural. Also, we don’t usually put 山 after エベレスト. See the title of Wikipedia article for your reference. My alternative translation is:
エベレストはチョモランマとも呼ばれている or 呼ばれる。（よばれている or よばれる）
Qomolangma is another name. So we usually say 呼ばれている (called as; named as).
～としても知られている can be used in the following context, for example.
エベレストは世界最高峰の山としても知られている。（せかいさいこうほうのやま）= Mt. Everest is also know as the highest mountain in the world.
The connotation of ～として知られる is closer to “is famous for X”. That’s why I found ～として知られる unnatural in this sentence used as an alias name. An alias name is not a key selling point to attract people.
