やっぱり、おばこなんだ!

English Translation

As I thought, she’s a virgin!

What is the kanji for おばこ?

I have never used or even heard of おばこ, which merely means “a girl around 17-18 y/o” only in the Northern areas of Japan. It’s a dialect. おばこ祭 is a seasonal festival in Akita Prefecture (秋田県), for example.

A reliable source on a government website explains that おばこ is probably derived from two words: おば (aunt) + 子 (kid). I looked up other sources. I don’t think おばこ is limited to a virgin. And there is no Kanji for おばこ.

The translation should be

やっぱり!あの子は処女だ。(あのこはしょじょだ)

You can replace やっぱり with 思った通り, and あの子 with あの娘 or 彼女.

There is an euphemism, おぼこ (not おばこ), as a dialect expression. I’ve also never heard of おぼこ.

おぼこ is believed to be phonetically transformed from 産子 (うぶこ).

Anyway, I don’t recommend you to use おぼこ/おばこ.
