穀物 means “grain”. “Rug” means 絨毯（じゅうたん）, 敷物（しきもの）, ラグ (loan word) or マット.
材料 means “materials”, especially “raw materials”. 材料 is used when you assemble a product (e.g. desk made of wood), create/synthesize something through chemical reaction/extraction (e.g. syrup made from corn), or combining several ingredients to make a new one (e.g. cooking). Harvesting grain doesn’t require any materials. The Japanese sentence doesn’t make any sense.
