I think the English translation should be something more like “Stop playing around”, “Don’t play tricks with me”, “Don’t get cute with me”, etc. - with the emphasis on the negative. The similar phrase ‘άσε τα ψέματα᾽ is generally translated with something like ‘stop lying’.
