何をくよくよしているのだ。

English Translation

What’s eating you?

What are you fretting about?

@mike-lima
くよくよ is used when someone regrets what he/she has done, and is currently gloomy.

My understanding is that “what’s eating you?” in English is used when someone is angry or upset. If so, くよくよ is totally incorrect. It should be

  • なんでイライラしてるの?
  • 何をそうカリカリしているの?

The feeling of くよくよ is like going DOWN whereas イライラ or カリカリ is heating UP in a bad way.
