There is enough room for us to play.
Can this also mean, “There are enough places for us to play”?

also, do 充分 and 十分 have basically the same meaning?
I think they are alternate spelling for the same word. Probably 十 is used more often simply because it is easier to write.

As @mike-lima partially explained, 十分 is the standardized spelling recommended by the Ministry of Educational. However, some native speakers intentionally use 充分 when they mean the satisfaction is not objective/quantitative but subjective/qualitative.
I believe the original sentence should be replaced with 十分 by taking into account the whole context. It’s talking about the space (small or spacious), which can be measured on a 0-10 scale.
You can use 充分 instead of 充分 in the following cases.
私達はこの場所に充分満足している。= We are very much satisfied/happy with this place.
それを行うのに充分時間がある。= We/I/You/They have enough time to do it.
The first sentence implies that our emotions are fulfilled with the quality of the facility such as state-of-the-art equipment, operational excellence, and heartwarming staff serving us. The Kanji 充 means “to fulfill”.
The second case is a technical one. If you write it as 十分時間がある, it could mean either “we have enough time to do it” or “we have ten minutes to do it”.
