Она села в кресло.

The analysis says this is locative, but should it be accusative?

English Translation

She sat in a chair.

Isn’t this prepositional? кресле?

My guess, though I’m not a native Russian speaker, is that it’s a change of location (“She sat down in the chair”), so the accusative is used.

English Translation

She sat in an armchair.

it is locative because it shows the location where she is sitting

As far as I know (насколько я знаю):

она сидела в кресле - she sat in an armchair = no moments = prepositional (locativ)

она села в кресло she sat down in the armchair = motion = accusative
