Would replacing 知り合い with 仲間 also produce a natural-sounding sentence?

  • 知り合い = just an acquaintance.
  • 仲間 = a good friend or a comrade (i.e. a member of an inner circle sharing the same interests, objectives, quality of skills, and/or value systems).
