Interesting, would It wasn’t a consent make more sense in English? Translating zgoda into agreement sounds horrible to me.
No, “a consent” doesn’t really work in English either. I’m not great at grammar, but IIRC agreements, as in like contracts, are countable nouns, but the concept of consent is not countable, nor is the concept of permission in most cases. You could use the verb form, such as “It was not permitted” or “It was not consented to.”
I have seen the plural “permissions” used in some cases, usually when talking about a collection of permissions granted for separate things, such as “Permissions to stream games,” referring to multiple specific, different games, but if you were to talk about just one game it wouldn’t be “A permission to stream a game,” it would just be “Permission to stream a game.”
Bearing that in mind, though, even if you just took the “a” out of this and had “It wasn’t permission,” the sentence still doesn’t make sense. Some verb has to act on the noun that is permission, or else one must use the verb “to permit.”
