Spanish Translation
Eso es hablar de la mar.
Wrong translation, it should be something like “Son charlas/conversaciones”
Both Sono chiacchere and Eso es hablar de la mar are translations of “That’s idle talk”. I’m not familiar with the Spanish expression, but I get the idea that this is talk that serves no purpose. My online dictionary gives me charla ociosa for “idle talk”, what do you say about that?

I just stumbled across cotorreo (a translation of “joshing”). Maybe that fits the bill?
For non-Spanish speakers: cotorra is a word for parrot.
