That, and the given translation sounds a bit off to me: “modéré” and “comportement” don’t go together here. Specifically, you wouldn’t really use the word “modéré” to describe somebody’s “comportement”.
If you want a literal translation, you could use:
“Son comportement était anormalement calme aujourd’hui.”
However, that still sounds a bit “unnatural” to me.
Instead:
Il a été particulièrement calme/discret aujourd’hui.
Il a été plus calme/discret que d’habitude aujourd’hui.
both sound better I think.
