Such a funny word. Even if I knew that it sounds exactly like ‘jungle’ I would have never guessed its spelling.

Also one of the few words in the German language where all three grammatical genders can apply. Even the Germans can’t agree if it should be “der Dschungel” or “das Dschungel”, and in some historical texts, you’ll even find “die Dschungel”!

And following golly’s comment I (finally) realised that German does not have a way to represent /d͡ʒ/ other than ‘ge’, but ‘Geungel’ obviously can’t work. What an awkward situation to be in!
Yeah, awkward and devastating even 
There are a few loan words like Journalist, Jazz or Jargon though, or named entities like Taj Mahal. Though my grandparents would refuse to pronounce them properly.
Definitely not as frequent as in, e.g., English or Ukrainian, though.
